Every March, Women’s History Month takes place to acknowledge the women who have made important contributions to gender-equality in our country. In March of 1987, Congress declared this month a time to increase awareness of the struggle of women who have consistently faced oppression over history. The National Women’s History Alliance picks a theme every year, for 2020 “Valiant Women of the Vote ” has been selected. The purpose of this year’s theme is to honor “the brave women who fought to win suffrage rights for women, and for the women who continue to fight for the voting rights of others.”
