The famed basketball player, Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash on Sunday, January 26 along with 8 other people. Kobe Bryant, a former NBA player for the Los Angeles Lakers, was travelling to his daughter’s, Gianna Bryant, basketball game when his helicopter crashed and all travellers were killed. 

Bryant has 3 other daughters, including a newborn, who were not involved in the crash. Bryant also has a wife, Vanessa Bryant, who was also not in the helicopter. 

The other victims of the crash include a basketball coach, John Altobelli, and his wife and child. Another assistant basketball coach and mother-daughter duo, Sarah and Peyton Chester, were also killed in the horrific crash. The final victim was the helicopter pilot who has yet to be identified.

The entire world is honoring Kobe Bryant’s legacy; a five-time NBA Champion, 18 time All-Star, 2 time NBA Finals MVP, and more. Many moments of silence have been held, tributes have built, and even Brebeuf is taking a moment to recognize the sports legend by having an all-black sweatpants day.
