Pre-Med Club is a school favorite club. With its focus on pre-professional growth, the club teaches students how to use their high school career to develop their passions early on and plan intentionally for the future.
The mission of the club is “to focus on and educate about medical issues and careers in the medical field.” This mission rings true in all opportunities that the club creates for its members, from leadership to suturing skills.
“We are looking forward to another year of fun labs, informative presentations, and exciting speakers from all medical fields,” says Anna Dunn ‘26, a co-vice president of the club.
She continues, “We hope to provide a wide range of medical experience and topics to give our members the best understanding of their interests and the path they can take to pursue them.”
The “fun labs, informative presentations, and exciting speakers” that Dunn mentions are some of the key features of the Pre-Med Club that attracts so many students. Club members often partake in exciting activities such as dissections, bone labs, and tutorials (there are usually tutorials on CPR and basic suturing).
The club also brings many guest speakers from a variety of medical fields to show just how pervasive a career in medicine can be. For example, two years ago, Dr. Eric Bain (Brebeuf graduate of the class of 2010) spoke to the club about “his experience in medical school and residency as well as his future plans to pursue cardiology.”
Beyond these classroom activities, the club also features learning and service opportunities outside of the classroom.
In particular, the Pre-Med Club hosts its annual blood drive for students 16+ years of age. This blood drive teaches students about the importance of donating blood and how the donation process works.
President Eva Fetahagic ’25 has been in the club since her freshman year, and, this year, hopes to focus more on “delegating the work of the club and ensuring that more people can voice their ideas.” She hopes that members will lead meetings on topics they are passionate about.
If you are interested in joining the Pre-Med Club, come to weekly meetings in room 5 during the second PRT on Tuesdays.
