Boy’s Tennis Team celebrates after a win versus North Central High School.

The boy’s tennis team competed in the Marion County tennis tournament this past month, hoping to secure the first title in school history. Their road to the title game started off their journey with a match against North Central, who beat them in the regular season earlier this year. However, they rebounded from their previous performance, winning 4-1.

The Braves then played Pike in the quarter-finals and won to advance to the semi-finals, where they would face the Panthers of Park Tudor. This would be the Braves’ toughest match yet as Park Tudor and Brebeuf were both ranked inside the top 10 in the state for men’s tennis. However, the Panthers were no match for the Braves as Brebeuf beat Park Tudor 5-0. Anthony Suscha ‘25, the men’s tennis #1 doubles player said, “We had to battle at every position, and at some points, we thought we were out, but we fought and won the match.”

In the finals, the Braves faced Franklin Central, who hoped to win their first Marion County title in school history. In the end, the Braves had a dominant victory over Franklin Central 4-1  and secured the Marion County title.

Entering the State Tournament the Braves got their sectional draw and had to face the International School of Indiana in the first round. The team knew going into the match that it would be a comfortable game, and they showed it with a dominant 5-0 win.

With the sectional finals, the Braves were once again matched up against Park Tudor. Park Tudor got the honors of hosting the match but after a suspenseful wait, the match got rained out and was postponed. When the match was finally played, the Panthers packed the courts with students, putting the Braves at a massive disadvantage.

Three singles players Braden Carlock ‘24 and the two doubles team of Ethan Birge ‘25 and Harrison Stutler ‘26 were able to overcome the adversity to win their match. However, the rest of the Braves could not pull through and Brebeuf lost the match 3-2. This was a heartbreaking loss for the Braves, but they look forward to the next year, and even possible revenge against Park Tudor.
